Does Your Hair Need Moisture or Bond Building?

Do you ever have difficulty discerning what your hair needs? If it’s dry, is it damaged? If it’s healthy, is it also moisturized? Have you ever assumed your hair is healthy and conditioned when it’s luxuriously soft after an OLAPLEX treatment? It’s not just you! OLAPLEX is often confused for a conditioner, and although we now have an actual conditioner, OLAPLEX Nº.5, our award-winning treatment itself, doesn’t moisturize the hair. If you’re looking for simple ways to identify your hair needs and when to use an OLAPLEX Intensive Bond Building Treatment at home or conditioning treatment, we’ll break it down for you.

When Your Hair Needs Bond Repair

Healthy hair should always be the goal, making bond-building repair with OLAPLEX essential. If you regularly treat your hair with chemical services or periodically style your hair with thermal heat tools — you should know your hair is continuously under damage. If you notice breakage, split ends, and overall fried, limp hair — you need OLAPLEX. Even if you don’t chemically treat your hair or style it, the damage comes from environmental elements and mechanical styling like sleeping on a pillow or using a hair tie.

To remedy, use OLAPLEX Intensive Bond Building Treatment with Nº.0 and Nº.3. The treatment is the most intense bond rebuilding OLAPLEX offers for at-home use and will put your hair on the track to health. For healthy hair, use once weekly for maintenance. For compromised hair, use the treatment as often as needed; we recommend a few times per week.

When Your Hair Needs Moisture

Moisture is essential to healthy hair. Without it, the hair is dry, crunchy, and this leads to damage. Some textures are drier than others (we’re looking at you, curlies), so develop a routine that consistently keeps your hair hydrated. OLAPLEX now has a line of products that build bonds and moisturize simultaneously. If you’re experiencing rough, dry, crunchy hair — moisture is what you need.

After an OLAPLEX treatment, shampoo and condition with OLAPLEX Nº.4 and Nº.5 Bond Maintenance Shampoo and Conditioner. We like to leave Nº.5 on longer for extra moisture. The heroes come after you wash your hair when you style with OLAPLEX Nº.6 Bond Smoother Leave-In Styling Treatment and Nº.7 Bonding Oil. Cocktail the two together, mix into your hands and apply throughout your damp hair. Nº.6 conditions the hair, eliminates frizz for up to 72 hours and increases manageability, leaving the hair extra soft. Nº.7 is the first and only hair oil that rebuilds bonds while protecting from heat up to 450º f, adding shine and moisture.

Why You Need Both

Here’s the rub — healthy hair isn’t much if it’s dry, and moisturized hair isn’t cute if it’s breaking off. Healthy moisturized hair should be an essential part of your weekly maintenance regimen. With OLAPLEX, the steps are simple, and with attention to your mane at least once weekly, you can keep it in top shape, addressing both concerns!
